Hogmanay, with the Langan Band, PVK and For One Night OnlyConcert
31 December 22:00 - 01 January 02:00
We're getting a bit giddy with NYE fast approaching. By now you know you know the drill - music inside, music and pop-up bar in the smoko outside, dancing, merriment, hugging, kissing and anything else you could possibly associate with a party.
This year, the legendary Langan Band come back to do their thing, joined by long time Glasgow party selctor and former DMC finalist Pro Vinylist Karim (he should have won, but was robbed by a Sepp Blatter level rigged panel of judges) and fellwo DJ duo F.o.N.o. (For One Night Only - Calton Toi & O.C).
To ensure a full house all night and the best of vibes, tickets are on the door only, at the merest hint of an entry fee, £10. Get down early to avoid disappointment. For those of you who can't be arsed coming early, or just love snow ball fights/smoking and miss the cut off, we'll have a wee bar in the smoko (and a portaloo near by) alongside some of the DJs, all night.
Our bunkhouse is fully booked, as is dinner in the restaurant before the party starts.
The Langan Band:
‘Astonishing work, boundlessly inventive‘ –R2 Magazine
‘Exquisite, passionate playing‘ –The Scotsman
‘Extraordinary‘ –The Times
Glasgow power-trio the John Langan Band have travelled a long way since winning a Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections 2008 – not least musically, with their brilliantly tempestuous sound encompassing “a veritable United Nations of musical influences” (Folk Radio UK), including Celtic, Balkan, Gypsy and flamenco elements, fuelled by visceral punk spirit.
With a deceptively stripped down line-up of vocals, guitar, fiddle, bass and percussion, they released their debut album, Bones of Contention, to ecstatic reviews in 2013, following up two years later with the double disc I’m Alive/Live at the Globe.
Pr Vinylist Karim:
As someone once put it, of one of OBI's best pals...
'Glasgow DJing legend, PVK's all-encompasing sets have been heard from Optimo to Rockness to Miami to The Insider Festival - and back again, The Glasgow School of Art’s degree show street parties and every imaginable venue in between. A Rubadub alumni, he seamlessly mashes party-starters from every genre in his own unique style - a torch holder for the old school ideology of DJing in Scotland - not to be missed.'
PVK has blasted a couple of NYE'S for us in the past and is a man with a sound very close to our hearts.
Resident OBI booker and musical selector O.C. and long time wingman Calton Toi, are F.o.N.o.
Calton Toi has recently returned from a stint in Barcelona, where he rocked regular Panther Milk parties, in secret castles, sleazy clubs and glammed up dance-chambers. When not cramming some thirsty dance floor full of party-fuelling bangers, he also co-hosted a monthly radio show, Flava In Ya Ear, peppering Catalan ear drums with his choice selections.
O.C. books the bandfs you see and picks the tunes you hear at OBI. When Djing things are a tad more up tempo. Expect soulful and deep electronica, filthy funk, deviant disco and some ghetto bangers thrown in for good measure.
No kids or dogs please. Or knobs.
